Arvel Shipley

Arvel Emmert Shipley

“Absent from the body, present with the lord”

Arvel Emmert Shipley, 87, went to his heavenly home on Saturday, March 4th, 2017.  Arvel was born on May 13th, 1929 in Loyston, Tennessee to Dewey C. Shipley and Barbara E. Beeler-Shipley.  He was the third of twelve children.  His childhood was spent growing up in Tennessee until he joined the United States Air Force in 1948, at the age of nineteen.  He married the love of his life, Clara Mae Allen, on February 15th, 1952.  Together they made their home in Mountain Home, Idaho and they had four children;  Clifford Wesley Shipley (Sherrill), Marian Elizabeth Canoy (Ron), Mark Anthony Shipley (Meg), and Karen Marie Mickelson (Alan).  Grandpa Shipley had eleven grandchildren;  LeKish (Mark), Jordan (Mikayla), Nick, Meghan (Joe), Luke, Graham (Samantha), Ryan, Curtis and Chace (Sasha).  He also had five great grandchildren; Kobe, Jace, Isabella, Arden and Liv.

His commitment to god was the most important decision he made in his life, and he lived every day believing God’s purpose in the joys and challenges that he faced.  Though his time here on earth is over, his journey in heaven has only begun.

His wife, Clara, preceded Arvel in death after almost 54 years of marriage.   Arvel was also preceded in death by his daughter, Marian.  Following the death of Clara, Arvel found companionship with Annabelle and they were married until her death in 2015.

A Memorial to celebrate his life of service to God will be April 15th, 2017, 1:00 PM at the Chapel of the Resurrection Funeral Home (located on the ground of Cedar Park Church) in Bothell, Washington.
