Paul Aardsma

Paul William Aardsma, 91, peacefully entered the presence of his Lord April 29, 2017 at his home in Everett, Washington with family members present.  He was born Dec. 28, 1925 in Grand Rapids, Michigan to Allen & Clara Aardsma.

Paul and Doris were married on August 16, 1952. He earned his Masters in Sociology from MSU and went on to serve in multiple areas. He was the Senior Pastor at Faith Baptist Church in Lansing, Michigan, and served as Interim Pastor at various churches in Michigan, Maryland and Iowa. He was an active member of all the churches he attended, most recently Emmanuel Baptist Church in Des Moines, Iowa. Paul also worked for the Iowa Department of Elder Affairs and was recognized for his work to establish the Older Iowans Legislature. He was active in Iowa Republican politics and served as Chairman of the Warren County Republican Party. He enjoyed gardening and telling jokes.

Paul was devoted to his God, his family, and his country.

Paul was preceded in death by his infant son Richard Paul and daughter Lois. Paul is survived by his wife, Doris Gerrard Aardsma; sons, Carl Aardsma and wife Alleen, and Doug Aardsma; 4 grandchildren and their spouses; and 8 great-grandchildren and 1 spouse.

Services will be held at the Chapel of the Resurrection Funeral Home, located on the grounds of Cedar Park Church, 16300 112th Ave NE, Bothell, WA 98011, beginning with Viewing on Saturday, May 13th 2-5 PM and Funeral on Monday, May 15th at 4:00 PM.

    I was sorry to hear of Paul’s passing. He served with me on the Greenfield Plaza Hills of Coventry Sanitary District board for 10 years and was a member in Greenfield Plaza for several years. I thank Doris for her steadfast patience and lovely disposition.
